Jake Sullivan in Congress

Everything is interconnected everywhere, and the irrelevance of events and individuals to each other is nothing more than a myth. Politics is a place where this reality can be understood. Jake Sullivan, the U.S. National Security Advisor, has inadvertently become newsworthy in the U.S. elections. In fact, it is his wife, Maggie Goodlander, who has sparked a heated competition by running for a Democratic and safe congressional seat from New Hampshire. Ann McLane Kuster, a veteran Democratic representative, announced her retirement, and a hotly contested primary race to determine the Democratic candidate began for her seat.

Maggie Goodlander was a well-known figure with a famous family in the area and unexpectedly entered into a heated and intensely tense competition with her Democratic rival. Both sides engaged in intense campaigning against each other, and her rival sharply highlighted Goodlander’s weaknesses.

The discussion extended to her past support of Republicans, raising the question among Democrats whether she might support restricting abortion rights.

Ann McLane also took a stance against her. Even the issue of the financial disclosures that Goodlander released became controversial, and she was forced to admit that she had not fully declared her assets, revealing a significant portion of her wealth only recently after these revelations. Ultimately, Maggie Goodlander won the primary election, and it is unlikely that she will face much difficulty in the final round.

Goodlander is a well-known figure in Washington. She was one of the renowned advisors to Senator John McCain, a prominent Republican figure and Obama’s rival in the 2008 election.

The world isn’t so large that nothing is connected to anything else. Jake Sullivan, who orchestrated the conversation between Rouhani and Obama in the story of the Iran nuclear deal, is also part of this interconnectedness.
