Jalal Rashidi Koochee: The Morality Police Have Brought Nothing but Harm to the Country

Jalal Rashidi Koocheh: The Guidance Patrol has brought nothing but harm to the country.

Jalal Rashidi Koocheh, representative of the people of Marvdasht in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, in an interview with ISNA regarding the dimensions of Mahsa Amini’s death incident and the performance of the Guidance Patrol over the past years, stated:

Friends must accept that the Guidance Patrol was a mistake because it has resulted in nothing but loss and harm for the country. This doesn’t require statistics or surveys. If the Guidance Patrol alone was supposed to be successful in the issue of hijab, our situation in the field of hijab should have at least remained the same as 10 years ago.

Friends argue that if we say today that the Guidance Patrol is disbanded, people will come to the streets naked. I want to cry over this discussion. They have turned a simple cultural issue into a crisis that costs the system. I raised this point in the first session held to review the dimensions of Mahsa Amini’s case, but the gentlemen were upset. With these behaviors, we are turning people away from religion.
