Jamshid Sharmahd’s daughter after her father’s trial: My father’s life is in danger

Zhaleh Sharmahd, the daughter of Jamshid Sharmahd, an Iranian-German citizen who was abducted and is imprisoned in Iran, tweeted after the eighth and final court session of her father that his life is in danger. She had previously stated that he has been accused of ‘corruption on earth’, which carries a death sentence, and she introduced an online petition to stop this ruling. Human rights organizations and activists have repeatedly warned that Jamshid Sharmahd is at risk of execution.

The news of Mr. Sharmahd’s arrest was released on August 1, 2020. Some Iranian media claimed that Mr. Sharmahd was arrested in Tajikistan.

However, at the time, Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence stated in an announcement that any speculation raised in the media about the manner of Jamshid Sharmahd’s arrest, the head of the Kingdom Assembly of Iran, is denied.
