Japan expressed concern over uranium enrichment in Iran
Japan’s Foreign Minister on Monday, August 7, expressed concern about the progress and increase in uranium enrichment in Iran and the sending of combat drones by the Islamic Republic to Russia for use in military aggression against Ukraine.
Japan’s Foreign Ministry stated in a communiqué that Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi raised these concerns in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and asked the Iranian government to act constructively in these matters.
The drones sent by the Islamic Republic of Iran, including the Shahed suicide drones, play a significant role in Russia’s attacks on cities and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.
Japan, as one of the close allies of the United States and a member of the Group of Seven countries, has implemented all sanctions against Russia and simultaneously provided financial and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
