Javad Nekounam Resigned, but Foolad Club Did Not Accept

Javad Nekounam resigned, but the Foolad club did not accept it.

Yesterday, after the Foolad Khuzestan football team reached the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League by defeating the Saudi representative, Javad Nekounam announced his resignation in the post-match press conference.

In this press conference, he stated that this was his last game with Foolad Khuzestan and that he would no longer be on the Foolad bench.

Mr. Nekounam cited the difficult conditions created for him and his team as the reason for this decision.

However, today the Foolad club announced that Nekounam will participate in Foolad’s training today and that his resignation has been rejected.

In this season’s AFC Champions League competitions, Foolad is the only representative of Iran.

Iranian teams have not been able to win the most prestigious club competitions in Asia for years, although Persepolis reached the finals of these competitions twice in recent years.
