Javadi Finished Fifth in Paris Olympic Weightlifting

Javadi placed fifth in Olympic weightlifting in Paris

In the 89 kg weightlifting competition of the 2024 Olympics, Mirmostafa Javadi from Iran did not win a medal and finished in fifth place.

Javadi started the snatch with 164 kg, successfully lifted 168 kg, but dropped 171 kg on his third attempt.

The Iranian world champion of 2023 lifted 204 kg in his first clean and jerk attempt, but failed to lift 217 kg in his second and third attempts, finishing with a total of 372 kg in fifth place.

In this weight category, Carlos Nassar from Bulgaria set new world and Olympic records in the clean and jerk and total, confidently securing the top podium spot. Nassar, whose father is Lebanese and mother is Bulgarian, won the gold with a total of 404 kg.

Lopez from Colombia became the runner-up with 390 kg, and Antonio Pizzolato from Italy repeated his bronze medal performance from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Iran participated in Paris with two weightlifters. Ali Davoudi, the runner-up of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, will compete in the 102 kg category.
