Joint Exercise of China, Iran, and Russia in the Sea of Oman

The Chinese Ministry of Defense reported that China, Iran, and Russia are conducting a joint naval exercise in the Gulf of Oman. This exercise will be held from March 15 to 19.

The Chinese Ministry of Defense announced that this exercise will help deepen practical cooperation between the navies of the participating countries.

This is not the first time Iran, Russia, and China have held a joint naval maneuver, but after Russia’s attack on Ukraine, Iran and China were under pressure for assisting and cooperating militarily with Moscow.

The last naval exercise of Iran, Russia, and China was held early last February in the northern Indian Ocean region. In that exercise, called the 2022 Maritime Security Belt Combined Exercise, both the Iranian Navy and the Revolutionary Guards were present.
