Joint statement by Iran and Saudi Arabia on reopening embassies and resuming flights
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Iranian Foreign Minister, and Faisal bin Farhan, the Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister, signed a statement in China regarding the reopening of the two countries’ embassies and continuing talks to expand relations, including the resumption of flights.
According to the IRNA news agency, the two parties agreed that the countries’ representations would reopen within an agreed-upon timeframe and take necessary actions to open the embassies in Riyadh and Tehran and the consulates in Jeddah and Mashhad.
Based on the agreement made by the two countries last month in China, it has been decided that within the next two months, the countries will reopen their diplomatic facilities.
According to the report, it was also agreed that the two countries would continue discussions to explore ways to expand cooperation, including resuming flights and reciprocal visits by official and private sector delegations, and facilitating visa issuance for citizens of both countries, including Umrah visas.
According to IRNA, the Iranian Foreign Minister has invited his Saudi counterpart to visit Tehran.
