The Islamic Republic newspaper states that Iran’s economic problems don’t have an economic solution.
Today’s editorial in the Islamic Republic newspaper is dedicated to examining the slogan for the year 1403, which is ‘production leap with public participation.’ In this editorial, we read:
The statements made by officials on the occasion of the beginning of the year 1403 about the country’s situation have two parts: one part acknowledges the existence of economic problems, and the second part promises assistance to resolve them and offers solutions that lead to improvements in people’s lives.
Perhaps the most significant mistake of our officials is thinking that the country’s economic problems have exclusively economic solutions. This thinking is completely wrong and can be the source of officials getting caught in a vicious cycle that keeps them stuck in one place and prevents them from solving the problems. Let’s not even mention the bitter reality that the weakness of economic managers and the senior officials’ trust in incorrect statistics are also factors that trap them in this vicious cycle. But even if these factors didn’t exist, limiting the solutions to economic issues was the main problem keeping them stuck in the discussed vicious cycle.
Our country’s economic crisis will only be resolved when officials understand that this crisis has a political solution. They must abandon contractionary policies and adopt a policy of balance.
