Juan Guaidó participates in the internal opposition competitions
Juan Guaidó, who was recognized as the interim president of Venezuela by the country’s opposition and parts of the international community from 2019 to 2022, has become a candidate in the opposition’s primary elections to challenge Nicolás Maduro, the socialist president of Venezuela, in the country’s 2024 presidential election.
Previously, the National Assembly of Venezuela, composed of representatives opposing Maduro’s government, selected a group of former lawmakers, all of whom are women, as Mr. Guaidó’s successors.
