Judiciary Considers Unveiling as an Eighth Degree Crime

The judiciary considers the removal of the hijab as an eighth-degree offense.

The spokesperson for the judiciary said regarding the cases of hijab removal, that concerning hijab and modesty, based on current regulations and observing the rules of Article 4 of the Law on Reducing Imprisonment Sentences, the regulations are applied.

The most important point is that all members of society should pay attention to this matter, and we should advise for good and adherence to religious and legal standards.

This crime is directly addressed in court at the Ershad Complex and is considered an eighth-degree offense. Our judicial colleagues initially address these cases through guidance and attention, and subsequently through fines, monetary penalties, and supplementary punishments.

Supplementary and alternative punishments must also correspond to the crime committed, and our effort is to have a deterrent outcome so that individuals do not commit the offense again.
