The judiciary sentenced five defendants to death in connection with the case of a Basij member’s killing.
Masoud Setayeshi, the spokesperson for the Islamic Republic’s judiciary, announced the issuance of death sentences for five defendants related to the case of Basij member Rouhollah Ajamian’s killing.
Mr. Setayeshi stated that five of the defendants, who took effective actions such as stabbing the martyr with a knife and beating him with fists and kicks on the asphalt, leading to the martyrdom of Rouhollah Ajamian, have been sentenced to death on charges of corruption on earth through committing crimes against security, attacking officers, and disrupting public order. He also mentioned that 11 other defendants, including 3 under 18, have been sentenced to long-term imprisonment.
It has been stated that these sentences are not final and can be appealed in the Supreme Court.
According to Iranian media, Rouhollah Ajamian, born in 1994, was a member of the Basij from the 417th Kamlashahr unit in Karaj, who was killed with knife wounds on Thursday, November 3rd, during the 40th-day ceremony for Hadis Najafi in the vicinity of Behesht Sakineh, Karaj.
