Judiciary Spokesman: 58 People Arrested on Election Day

The spokesperson for the judiciary announced that 58 people were arrested on election day.

According to the spokesperson for the judiciary of the Islamic Republic, 58 people were arrested on the day of the elections, June 28th.

He stated that these individuals were arrested on charges such as disrupting polling stations or engaging in conflicts among supporters, although most of them were released by the end of the same day.

According to ISNA, Asghar Jahangir, the Deputy for Social Affairs and Crime Prevention of the Iranian Judiciary, added in the Supreme Judicial Council meeting on Monday, July 2nd, that prior to the elections, about 600 people who, according to him, were engaged in illegal activities on social media were given warnings either in person or via phone.

Security measures against civil activists, journalists, and media intensified days before the first round of the presidential election.
