The Judiciary spokesperson rejected the Central Bank’s claim about Babak Zanjani’s debt.
Asghar Jahangir, the Judiciary spokesperson, in his meeting with reporters today, rejected the Central Bank’s claim regarding Babak Zanjani’s debt to the bank.
The Central Bank of Iran says Mr. Zanjani has repaid only 15 million dollars out of his nearly two billion dollar debt.
However, Mr. Jahangir has stated that the claim of the assets not being returned or their value decreasing lacks any legal and expert documentation.
He also stated that the value of the identified assets is even more than Babak Zanjani’s debt, and all members of the working group have confirmed this.
Additionally, the change in the Central Bank’s stance in the media lacks a technical and expert basis.
The Judiciary has also requested Babak Zanjani to refrain from making misleading and provocative statements in the media.
Last week, the Central Bank of Iran announced that Babak Zanjani had not settled his debt and that the cryptocurrencies he offered instead of the debt were invalid.
This institution, citing a judicial order, stated that Mr. Zanjani was supposed to pay off his entire debt in euros within one month by June 2025.
