The Judiciary’s reaction to the death sentence of Mahmoud Mehrabi: He has 52 private complainants for spreading falsehoods.
Mizan News Agency, affiliated with Iran’s Judiciary, in response to the family statements of political prisoner Mahmoud Mehrabi, who is sentenced to death, announced that his initial court ruling is appealable in the Supreme Court and stated that he faces multiple charges.
According to Mizan, among the accusations against Mahmoud Mehrabi are that during the 2022 protests, he published content related to teaching the use of homemade weapons, inciting destruction of public property, provoking people to war and massacre, and insulting sacred values on social media.
Iran’s Judiciary also announced that Mr. Mehrabi has 52 private complainants for spreading falsehoods, and his trial was conducted with the presence of his two lawyers.
Yesterday, Mr. Mehrabi’s sister, in a video she released, said that her brother was tried for his activities on social media and because the court judge did not see signs of remorse in her brother’s face, he was sentenced to death.
Mahmoud Mehrabi is one of the detained protesters during the ‘Woman, Life, Freedom’ protests, which began following the death of Mahsa Amini in police custody. The IRGC intelligence forces arrested him on February 1, 2023, and he has since been held in Isfahan Central Prison.
