Kayhan: The Association of Independent Filmmakers of Iran is a new begging ploy by failed artists
Kayhan: A group of former filmmakers, who despite emigrating and living abroad have failed in their work, have started a new begging scheme.
The humorous event is that these individuals, whose numbers do not even reach the fingers on two hands, have named this gathering the Association of Independent Filmmakers of Iran.
Most of these individuals are unfamiliar even to professional cinema enthusiasts, and some, like Abdolreza Kahani, emigrated after a few weak and unpopular films to achieve success but mostly failed. Moreover, the title ‘independent’ is an ill-fitting label for them.
The news of the establishment of this association has been published by affiliated and state media such as the BBC and Radio Farda, and no independent media or group has welcomed them.
This so-called association is likely a new plan by these former cinema activists to receive money from foreign security and political institutions by cursing Iran.
