Kayhan: The Independent Iranian Filmmakers’ Guild is a New Begging Platform for Artistic Failures

Kayhan reports that a group of former filmmakers, who despite emigrating and residing abroad have failed in their work, have set up a new begging platform.

The humorous incident is that these individuals, whose numbers don’t even reach the fingers on two hands, have named this gathering the Guild of Independent Iranian Filmmakers.

Most of these individuals are unfamiliar even to professional cinema enthusiasts, and some, like Abdolreza Kahani, emigrated after a few weak and unpopular films in hopes of achieving success, but mostly faced failures. Moreover, the title ‘independent’ is an awkward fit for them.

As the news of the launch of this guild has been published by state-affiliated media like BBC and Radio Farda, no independent media or group has welcomed them.

This so-called guild is likely a new plan by these former cinema activists to receive funds from foreign security and political institutions by cursing Iran.
