Kazem Jalali, Iran’s ambassador to Russia, mentioned the possibility of visa cancellation between the two countries.
Mr. Jalali stated that it is possible that visas between Iran and Russia might be canceled in 2023 and added that Iran has taken steps in this regard.
He pointed out that Iran is waiting for Russia’s response and said that if Moscow had declared its readiness like us, we could have announced a visa-free regime in a short time.
In recent years, relations between Iran and Russia have become closer, and a number of Western countries have expressed concern over the military cooperation between the two countries.
The delivery of Iranian drones to Russia, which have been used in the Ukraine war, has made headlines. Iran’s Foreign Ministry has confirmed that a number of drones have been sold to Russia but stated that these drones were not sent to assist Russia in the Ukraine war.
