Kharazmi Bookstore Sealed

The Kharazmi Bookstore was sealed

The closure of the old Kharazmi bookstore in Tehran and the unemployment of its employees, due to the intervention of the Islamic Propaganda Organization, has faced much criticism.

Iranian translator Asadollah Amraei wrote in an Instagram post that the Kharazmi bookstore located on Enghelab Street was sealed by a judicial order.

Mr. Amraei also said today that apparently part of the shares of Kharazmi Publishing belonged to the late Abdolrahim Jafari, and after the acquisition of Amir Kabir Publishing and its transfer to the Islamic Propaganda Organization, Mr. Abdolrahim Jafari’s shares also became the property of the Islamic Propaganda Organization. Since 2007, and following the death of the late Alireza Heidari, who was the CEO of Kharazmi since its establishment, the Islamic Propaganda Organization, which rendered Amir Kabir Publishing unprofitable and closed most of its stores, has now claimed the bookstore. According to Mr. Talaqani, it is unrelated to the publishing house.

Majid Talaqani, the manager of Kharazmi Bookstore, also announced the news of the Islamic Propaganda Organization’s lawsuit against him to the state news agency IRNA, saying they want to confiscate this publishing house.
