Khatami’s Office Warning to Javad Imam and the Reform Front
A few days ago, news emerged about the Reform Front’s opposition, led by figures like Javad Imam and Azar Mansouri, to a statement titled ‘Opening a Window’.
Before the statement was published, Javad Imam and Azar Mansouri were busy criticizing and undermining the statement’s authors. They even attacked the authors in private meetings to prevent the statement’s release but faced a stern warning from Mohammad Khatami.
These individuals, who oppose participating in the parliamentary elections, are attempting to create obstacles by pressuring other members of the Reform Front, especially the authors of the ‘Opening a Window’ letter. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, it is reported that Khatami’s office has given a serious warning to Javad Imam and Azar Mansouri, forcing them to retreat in recent days. Some reformist activists believe that not participating in the elections would allow the hardline faction of the government, which seeks purification, to easily achieve its goals, and therefore, they are trying to prevent this.
