Khatami’s Response to the Return of the Guidance Patrol: The Danger of Self-Destruction is More Apparent Than Ever
Today, Khatami, among a group of his advisors, stated that despite repeatedly warning the authorities of the regime about the danger of self-destruction and social collapse, it seems there are no listening ears. He said that the danger of self-destruction, which has been spoken of many times, appears more evident with the renewed activity of the Guidance Patrol and also with the security-police confrontations and unconventional judicial rulings regarding social issues, especially concerning women.
Expressing astonishment at the lack of prudence by the main officials of the regime regarding social issues, he added that given the bitter past experiences and the heavy costs society has borne, as well as the damage to the reputation of Islam, it is expected that the officials not only oppose these behaviors, approaches, and stances, but also take serious action against the perpetrators and those directly responsible.
Unfortunately, such prudence and rationality are not seen, and if these incorrect practices continue, they will make our already tense society even more agitated than before.
