The brilliance of Kijan Maqsoudi in the Asian Women’s Weightlifting Championships

Kijan Maqsoudi won all three bronze medals in the 87 kg category at the Asian Women’s Weightlifting Championships hosted in Tashkent.

The phenomenon from Sanandaj, representing Iran’s national team, managed to lift 96 kg in the snatch and 117 kg in the clean and jerk, totaling 213 kg, to stand on the third podium.

The gold medal went to Yun Ha Je from South Korea, Nigora Sonova from Uzbekistan claimed the silver, and the representative from Sri Lanka finished fourth after Ms. Maqsoudi.

Kijan says, ‘I always think about the Olympic podium, even in my sleep. It’s a very big dream and requires a lot of effort, but I see in myself the ability to achieve this dream.’

In the 2024 Asian Championships, besides Razaghi’s runner-up position and Maqsoudi’s bronze medal, Fatemeh Keshavarz and Reyhaneh Karimi improved all six junior and senior records of Iran, and Razaghi also improved her three national records.
