Kılıçdaroğlu sues Erdoğan
Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the rival of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the Turkish presidential election, has filed a lawsuit against him for broadcasting a promotional video that associates the opposition candidate with Kurdish militants.
This lawsuit has been filed ahead of the second round of the Turkish elections, which is set to take place on Sunday, May 28th.
Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu’s lawyer stated that the case has been filed to hold Mr. Erdoğan accountable for a fabricated and edited video.
The video shows Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu in the election campaign standing alongside images of a military commander from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, PKK.
Turkey considers the PKK a terrorist organization, and this group is not allowed to operate in the country.
Mr. Erdoğan has repeatedly played this video at his campaign rallies.
