Kremlin's Plan to Separate Moldova from the West

Kremlin’s Plan to Isolate Moldova from the West

A leaked strategic document, said to belong to the Russian Presidential Administration, outlines a detailed plan for Soviet Moldova, one of the former Soviet Union’s constituent republics.

According to this document, the Kremlin’s intention should be to move in a direction that separates this small country from the West and shapes its future alongside Moscow.

A senior Western intelligence official who has read both documents says that Moscow’s goal in Moldova is to increase pro-Russian influence in the country. The Kremlin sees this country more as a pro-Russian buffer zone rather than part of a new Russian empire.

In the European Union and the United States, there is concern that Moscow might quickly orchestrate a coup to overthrow the Moldovan government and confront the West with new realities, prompting Western countries to exert more pressure on Ukraine.
