Kuwait Seeks Dialogue with Iran on Maritime Borders

Kuwait calls for talks with Iran regarding maritime borders

Kuwait invited Iran to discuss the maritime borders between the two countries after Tehran announced its readiness to begin drilling in a disputed gas field in the Persian Gulf.

In a statement released by the country’s Foreign Ministry on Monday, July 3, it was stated that the Kuwaiti government once again invites the Iranian side to begin negotiations on the determination of maritime borders.

However, the statement declared that Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia alone have exclusive rights over the natural wealth in this field.

This field is known as Arash in Iran and as Durra in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
