Landslide caused by snow in Afghanistan

Taliban officials in Afghanistan say that at least 25 people have been killed due to a landslide caused by snow.

Mohammad Abdullah Jan, head of information and communications and spokesperson for the Taliban government’s disaster management ministry, has stated that following the recent snowfall which caused a landslide in the Nurgram district of Nuristan province, at least 25 people have lost their lives.

According to this Taliban official, 8 more people were injured in the incident and about 15 to 20 houses have also been destroyed.

Additionally, five mine workers have gone missing following the collapse of a mine roof in Panjshir province.

The Taliban government’s disaster management ministry says that in many provinces of Afghanistan, rainfall continues and has caused the closure of some communication routes in Kunar, Nuristan, and Panjshir.

The spokesperson for the Taliban government’s disaster management ministry has said that a number of residential houses in these three provinces have also been destroyed.
