Latest details on the rescue operation for 4 missing climbers in Damavand

Four Iranian climbers attempted to ascend Mount Damavand despite warnings about severe weather conditions and became trapped.

The head of the Red Crescent’s relief and rescue organization said in an interview with ILNA on Monday, February 11, that from what we know for certain, two of these individuals have died, one person has been completely rescued and the rescue teams have reached them, but they have not yet been able to reach the fourth person. They are in contact with them, but their condition is not good.

Babak Mahmoudi added that the teams are still searching.

We dispatched a helicopter today, and it attempted three times to approach the area, but due to adverse weather conditions, it was unable to do so.

The head of the Red Crescent’s relief and rescue organization stated that unfortunately, despite numerous warnings that the conditions were not suitable for climbing and requests to refrain from mountaineering, these individuals acted negligently.
