Lawyer: Saman Yasin’s death sentence reduced to 5 years of exile

The lawyer of Saman Sedi Yasin, the Kermanshahi rap singer, says that his death sentence has been reduced to 5 years of exile.

Hossein Sartipi wrote in a tweet that according to the verdict issued by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, Mr. Sedi has been sentenced to five years of exile to one of the cities in Kerman province.

He added that he will appeal to the Supreme Court because he has been in temporary detention for more than 18 months.

Saman Yasin, from Kermanshah, was arrested on October 2, 2022, during nationwide protests in Tehran.

His case, which was previously sentenced to death on charges of enmity against God and conspiracy against national security, was referred back for further investigation due to investigative deficiencies as announced by the Supreme Court.

During the 18 months of his detention, he was transferred to the psychiatric ward and hospitalized several times.
