Lebanon and Israel begin ceasefire talks in Washington

According to a statement from the Lebanese Presidential Office, Lebanon and Israel are set to start talks on Tuesday in Washington, focusing on a ceasefire in the conflicts between Israel and Hezbollah.

The United States will play the role of mediator in this process.

The office of Joseph Aoun, the President of Lebanon, has announced that the two sides will meet at the U.S. State Department, and the aim of these talks is to discuss the possibility of declaring a ceasefire and setting a date to start direct negotiations.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that on Friday, there were also contacts between the ambassadors of Lebanon and Israel in the U.S., with the presence of the U.S. ambassador to Lebanon, to coordinate the preparations for these talks.
