The President of Lebanon: Consultations to Extend the Ceasefire with Israel Continue
Joseph Aoun announced that diplomatic efforts to extend the ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel are ongoing, while the second round of negotiations between the two parties is scheduled to take place in Washington.
Joseph Aoun, the President of Lebanon, has announced that talks to extend the ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel are still ongoing, and efforts to maintain the current situation are in progress.
These remarks come as both parties are within a temporary 10-day ceasefire, with only four days remaining until it ends. Additionally, the second round of negotiations between Lebanese and Israeli representatives is set to take place on Thursday in Washington.
In a message on the X network, Aoun outlined Lebanon’s key points for the negotiations, stating that these talks are planned based on the complete cessation of Israeli aggressions, the realization of Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanese territories, the return of prisoners, the deployment of the army on international borders, and the start of rebuilding what was destroyed during this war.
He further emphasized his country’s stance, saying it is clear: no concessions, no deals, and no surrender, only what ensures Lebanon’s sovereignty and the interests of all Lebanese people.
A statement from the Lebanese Presidential Office also mentioned that U.S. support for this process could provide an opportunity for Lebanon that should not be missed.
