Lindsey Graham: Supporting Pahlavi is not America’s job, it’s the task of the Iranian people.
Lindsey Graham, a Republican U.S. senator, in part of an interview at the Munich Security Conference, in response to Christiane Amanpour’s question about the future leadership of Iran and possible support for Prince Reza Pahlavi, briefly said no.
He elaborated on this response by adding that it is the job of the Iranian people, not America. I’ve spoken with him in every TV talk show you can imagine and have always been impressed by the way he articulates his views on the dangers of the situation. I’m sure he will have an important role in Iran’s future. All we can do is help the Iranian people have an opportunity to be free. Now, if they miss this opportunity, which they have.
In the first part of this interview, Prince Reza Pahlavi was also present and answered the host’s challenging questions.
Senator Graham also said that the Iranian regime is a religious autocracy that would use nuclear weapons if it had them.
He added that if we retreat now, we will have made the biggest mistake. I told this to the leaders of the region’s countries who are worried about war.
