Lost Carpets of Saadabad Palace Found

The missing carpets of Saadabad Palace have been found

Masoud Sepehrzad, the head of the Handwoven Carpet Sellers’ Union, denied the disappearance of the carpets from Saadabad Palace and stated that these carpets have been relocated to another place

He mentioned that the carpets were transferred from Saadabad Palace to the Carpet Museum of Iran at Fatemi Square, and the former minister’s comment about the carpets being worthless stems from his incompetence and ignorance

Recently, Fars News Agency reported the disappearance of 48 exquisite carpets between the years 2013 to 2016 during Hassan Rouhani’s presidency, which were in the Saadabad Palace building

The public relations office of Saadabad Palace also announced in a statement that the Hafeziyeh building, where the carpets were kept, belongs to the Presidential Office, and its protection is not within the duties and authorities of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage

Ezzatollah Zarghami, the Minister of Cultural Heritage, also commented on the matter, stating that this incident occurred in previous terms and the safeguarding of that building in the Saadabad Palace complex was not the responsibility of the Cultural Heritage Organization
