The missing half of the statue of Ramses II was discovered after 100 years
Archaeologists say that nearly a century after the discovery of a part of the statue of Ramses II in Egypt, the missing piece has now been found near the same location
This limestone piece of the 36-meter statue was found at the Al-Ashmunin archaeological site in Minya province, Egypt, through the joint efforts of the country’s Supreme Council of Antiquities and researchers from the University of Colorado, USA
The statue depicts the head, shoulders, and upper body of Pharaoh Ramses II, adorned with a double crown and a royal robe with an uraeus, a symbol of the Egyptian cobra, signifying royalty and divine power
Further research has shown that this limestone piece complements the lower section, which was discovered nearly a century ago in 1930 by German archaeologist Günther Roeder
