Lufthansa Airlines Extends Flight Cancellations to Tehran and Beirut
On Thursday, April 18, Lufthansa Airlines announced that it has extended the suspension of its flights to and from Tehran and Beirut until April 30.
A spokesperson for Europe’s largest airline told the media that during this specified period, Lufthansa will not use Iranian airspace.
The company’s website states that the safety of passengers and flight crew is Lufthansa’s main priority and that the situation in the Middle East is continuously monitored by the company.
Last week, following heightened tensions between the Islamic Republic and Israel and threats from the Islamic Republic’s officials to attack Israeli territory, Lufthansa announced it would suspend its flights from Vienna to Tehran until Thursday, April 18.
At the same time, Austrian Airlines made a similar decision, and the Australian airline Qantas and Dutch KLM also announced they would change their flight routes and would not enter Iranian airspace.
No decision has yet been announced by Austrian Airlines regarding the continuation of the suspension of Tehran flights.
