Macron Warns Social Networks Harm Democracy and Normalize Violence

Macron warns that social networks harm democracy and normalize violence

Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, considered social networks as a factor in exacerbating social divides and said these platforms harm democracies by polarizing society and creating shock in response to violent images. He claimed that some of these networks have turned into tools for mobilizing individuals in violent actions and were used on October 17 to draw young people and even older individuals to the sites of attacks and looting. Macron also criticized what he called the disregard for the reality of violence on these platforms.
