Mahya Vahedi, a social activist in the field of women and children, has been arrested.

This news was shared by Meysam Vahedi, Ms. Vahedi’s brother, on his Twitter account. He wrote that his sister was arrested around noon on Sunday, January 15, without any explanation at her workplace, and her electronic devices were also confiscated.

Mahya Vahedi had been volunteering for several years with the Imam Ali Society before its dissolution. She was responsible for one of the Iranian homes of the Imam Ali Society in Darvazeh Ghar, Tehran, and was involved in overseeing the organization’s activities in the Sistan and Baluchestan province.

The Imam Ali Society, with over ten thousand members, had been active for the past twenty years helping children and poor families. Recently, it was dissolved by order of Iranian judicial authorities. The Imam Ali Society states that more than six thousand children were under the care of this organization.
