Masoud Pezeshkian: I will run for the elections
Masoud Pezeshkian, the representative of the people of Tabriz in the parliament, announced today his readiness to run for the fourteenth presidential election. He stated that his intention in participating in the election is to increase public participation and bring some people to the ballot boxes at a time when there is a perception domestically and internationally that the Iranian people are disillusioned with the elections.
Pezeshkian emphasized that what he personally seeks is to increase participation. However, if we can consult with various principlist and reformist figures and turn this atmosphere of confrontation in the country into one of interaction, it would be valuable. This is because we will succeed when we cooperate and interact with each other, and the election arena is one of competition, not interaction. What is decisive are the general policies of the system, which are announced by the leadership.
Regarding the support of reformists for his participation in the upcoming elections, he said he is waiting for the announcement of the presence of reformist figures. Based on assessing the weight of the present individuals considering their acceptance, ability, and capacity to increase participation, he will decide whether to reach a consensus or enter independently in this field.
