Masoud Pezeshkian's Trip to Afghanistan Canceled

Pezeshkian’s trip to Afghanistan was canceled

Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, had previously announced that he was ready to travel to Afghanistan to open a new chapter in the relations between the two countries.

The official account of the Iranian embassy in Kabul also shared these remarks on the social network X, formerly Twitter, and the media reported on Pezeshkian’s imminent trip to Kabul.

However, this trip was suddenly canceled.

Although the official and real reason was not announced, many analysts consider the escalation of tensions caused by the expulsion of Afghan migrants from Iran as the main reason for this decision.

Ismail Baghaei, the spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, later said in a press conference that the President’s remarks about the trip to Kabul were merely a personal comment with good intentions and that he did not have a specific plan for the trip.

The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation of the Taliban administration announced that the scale and manner in which Afghan migrants have been forced to return to their homeland is something Afghanistan has never experienced in its history.
