Mawlavi Abdul Hamid: Torture is religiously forbidden
Mawlavi Abdul Hamid, the Sunni Friday prayer leader of Zahedan, said in his Quran translation and interpretation class held at Makki Mosque in Zahedan that the torture of prisoners is religiously forbidden. From the perspective of Islam and international laws, no government or organization has the right to extract forced confessions from prisoners.
He also added that we hope the torture of prisoners and captives and the violation of their dignity, which is contrary to Islam and international laws, will be eradicated from our country. This is the desire of all the Iranian people.
Here, no one is foreign or alien. The Iranian people, who are the true owners of this country, do not accept forced confessions and their demand is for torture to cease.
In recent months, Abdul Hamid has been highly critical of the Islamic Republic’s policies in dealing with protesters.
