Mawlawi Abdolhamid: A Single Sect Cannot Govern the Country

Mawlavi Abdul Hamid: One religion cannot govern the country

Mawlavi Abdul Hamid, the influential leader of Iran’s Sunnis, criticized the restrictions stemming from what he called the religious perspective governing Iran and warned that the current political crisis is because a specific religion or a specific ethnicity cannot govern the country. He said that a religious perspective leads the country to failure.

On Friday, March 17, Mr. Abdul Hamid Ismaeelzahi criticized the security conditions prevailing in the country, especially in the province of Sistan and Baluchestan, during his weekly sermon at Friday prayers in Zahedan.

Mawlavi Abdul Hamid emphasized that the government’s perspective should be national and inclusive and should not be religious. A religious perspective leads to failure, regardless of which religion it is.
