Maziar Lorestani: My Beard Had Grown, But They Said I Must Enter the Court with Hijab

Maziar Lorestani: My beard had grown, but they said I had to enter the court with a hijab.

Maziar Lorestani, an Iranian actor, spoke about his name change and gender identity in a video interview on the program ‘Tanaz’ with Kamal Tabrizi, the host and director of the show, which is broadcast on the Rubika internet network. Mr. Lorestani mentioned that he is currently 56 years old and has spent most of his life experiencing a contradiction between his body and soul.

He said that when he went to the legal medical office for his gender identity change, they told him he had to come with a hijab. According to Mr. Lorestani, this was despite the fact that he had started hormone therapy and his beard had grown.

He recounted that while playing with his beard, he thought to himself, ‘Oh God, what a strange paradox this is.’ Maziar Lorestani, who was previously known as Shohreh Lorestani, announced on July 13, 2022, that he had undergone gender reassignment surgery and had chosen the name Maziar for himself.
