Media objection to the presence of the Iranian-American coach in Nassaji
The announcement of Omid Namazi’s presence in the coaching staff of the bottom-ranked Nassaji Mazandaran team has led to objections from government-affiliated media. His last coaching experience in Iran was with Zob Ahan.
The Mizan website wrote that Namazi openly revealed his anti-religious and anti-Iranian stances during the unrest and was a supporter of the national team’s exclusion from the World Cup. The Judiciary News Agency, while republishing part of Namazi’s interview with Voice of America, wrote that Nassaji officials should promptly facilitate the termination of cooperation with this notorious individual.
Fars News called the Nassaji assistant coach a dual national supporter of the unrest with a negative background. Mashregh News also found this choice suspicious and wrote that Nassaji should be accountable and the entry channels of this person should be examined by relevant authorities.
