Meeting of Several Cinema Figures with Keyhan Mahtadi’s Family
A number of Iranian filmmakers, as part of their ongoing visits to the families of those killed and imprisoned during the Iranian protests, met with Keyvan Mahtadi’s family on Friday, April 21st.
Rakhshan Bani-Etemad, Mahvash Sheikholeslami, Fatemeh Motamed-Arya, Mahnaz Afzali, Nahid Rezaei, Mina Akbari, Sepideh Abtahi, Jafar Panahi, Amir Esbati, Mohammad Rasoulof, and Mojtaba Mirtahmasb were present at this meeting.
Keyvan Mahtadi, a labor activist, was arrested at his home by security forces on May 9th, 2022, and was later transferred to Evin Prison.
HRANA, the news agency of human rights activists in Iran, reported that Mr. Mahtadi was sentenced by the Tehran Revolutionary Court to five years in prison for assembly and collusion against national security and to one year in prison for propaganda against the regime. This sentence was fully upheld by the Tehran Province Court of Appeals in late March 2023.
He is currently serving his sentence in Ward 4 of Evin Prison.
