Meeting of the Catholic Leader with Young People and Religious Leaders of Lebanon Amid Regional Crisis

Meeting of the Catholic leader with the youth and religious leaders of Lebanon amidst a regional crisis

Pope Leon, the leader of the world’s Catholics, went to Lebanon as part of his first foreign trips after Turkey.

He arrived in the Lebanese capital just a week after the latest Israeli airstrike on Beirut.

Before his trip to Turkey and considering the Israeli airstrike on Beirut, there was much speculation about the possibility of changing Pope Leon’s travel plans and canceling his visit to Beirut. However, a few days ago, the Vatican announced that the Pope’s travel plans to Lebanon had not changed after the Israeli airstrikes on Beirut earlier in the week.

During his visit to Lebanon, he will meet with the country’s religious leaders and speak with Lebanese youth. His visit will especially boost the morale of the Christians in the country, who are estimated to make up more than one-third of the population.
