Mehdi Taj has been removed from the list of candidates for the presidency of the Football Federation.
Sending a letter related to the judicial qualifications and criminal records of the candidates to the Football Federation regarding the qualification approval of only two candidates for the presidency will change the conditions for the September 8th elections.
The preliminary election committee of the Football Federation, 21 days before the extraordinary presidential elections, introduced Mehdi Taj, Mirshad Majedi, and Azizollah Mohammadi as the relevant candidates, but they were waiting for final approval from the country’s judicial and legal authorities. Follow-ups show that yesterday a legal letter was given to the Secretary General of the Federation, in which the names of Mirshad Majedi and Azizollah Mohammadi were announced as individuals without judicial issues for participating in the federation elections. However, there was no mention of Mehdi Taj’s name in this letter. In fact, if the former president of the Football Federation cannot convince the country’s judicial authorities to participate in the federation elections, excluding him from the list of candidates is completely legal.
In a situation where, after last night’s talks by Hassan Kamrani Far on the Football Bartar program stating that so far the qualifications of two candidates for the presidency of the Football Federation have been approved, some news of Mehdi Taj’s disqualification by the competent authorities has been published, but the security of the Football Federation responded to this issue.
Hamisi, the head of security of the Football Federation, considering the speculations and controversies surrounding the determination of the qualifications of the candidates for the Football Federation elections, stated that so far no disqualification has been received from any institution by this security, which is responsible for following up on such correspondences.
