Mehdi Yarahi’s lawyer has reported that his case has been referred to the Revolutionary Court.
The lawyer for Mehdi Yarahi, the singer who was arrested in Iran, announced that he went to the second branch of the magistrate’s office at the Ershad Prosecutor’s Office today to review his client’s case, but was informed that the indictment has been issued and the case has been sent to the Revolutionary Court.
Mostafa Nili stated that for this reason, reviewing the case was not possible. He promised to continue following up on the case after the court branch is determined.
Mehdi Yarahi was one of the licensed pop singers in the country who had numerous collaborations with the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting in his record, but he is now considered one of the most important figures in the music of the recent protests.
In recent weeks, he drew attention to the protests against mandatory hijab once again by releasing the single ‘Rousarito’. Four days after the release of this single, he was arrested on charges of releasing an illegal song and acting against the morality and norms of the Islamic society.
In 2019, three cases were also formed against Mr. Yarahi with accusations such as propaganda against the regime and assembly and collusion due to his protest songs.
