Meloni: Italy has never participated in the war with Iran

Giorgia Meloni, the Prime Minister of Italy, emphasized that her country has never been involved in a war against Iran.

She said that Mark Rutte, the NATO Secretary General, was mistaken about the types of flights conducted from American bases in Italy but later corrected his mistake and clarified the issue.

Meloni added that Italy has adhered to its commitments regarding the use of military bases but has never gone beyond the framework of existing agreements.

Earlier, Guido Crosetto, the Italian Defense Minister, considered the statements of the NATO Secretary General to be due to excitement and said that these remarks had caused misunderstandings.

Mark Rutte had previously claimed that hundreds of American planes had taken off from bases located in Italy to support operations against Iran, a claim that Italian officials have denied.
