Member of the Stability Front in Parliament: The Parliament, Not the Government, Is Responsible for Price Increases

A representative from the Stability Front in the Parliament says the parliament is responsible for the price hikes, not the government.

Hojatoleslam Hossein Jalali stated that anyone with a bit of sense wouldn’t say that prices should return to September 2021 levels. I don’t understand why you journalists focus your questions on such topics.

I can tie your legs and tell you to run. When we pass a law in the Parliament that there will no longer be a 4,200 rial exchange rate, and the currency must be freed and reach 25,000 rials, and somehow you turn the 4,200 rial rate into 25,000, how do you expect nothing to become more expensive and all items to be sold at the same past prices?

The Parliament’s decision to remove the 4,200 rial exchange rate means everything should become five times more expensive. The parliament is the cause of the price increases, not the government.

The government only proposed it, but the body that approved it was the Parliament, not the government.
