Mehdi Karroubi’s message from house arrest: There is no other way but change
Mehdi Karroubi wrote in a message: Holding the National Trust Party Congress under the worst political and social conditions in the country is a testament to the high determination of comrades and friends.
A country without parties ends up with factions ruling the government, parliament, and the entire nation, competing for power. The foundation of the Islamic Revolution was the establishment of a republic in Iran, and a republic without parties is meaningless.
The approval of laws against the rights of the people, such as anti-JCPOA plans, restrictions on cyberspace, plans to intensify the punishment of those considered improperly veiled, and most importantly, changing election laws for broader disqualifications, all indicate the exclusion and absence of the people.
Today’s Iran, which is rapidly distancing itself from the path of development, should not stagnate any further. The condition for development is the revival of trust: trust of the people in the government, trust in reforms, and trust in hope. The path to trust, however, passes through change—a change from within Iran, by the people, and without any violence.
