MI6 weapon shipments to Russia have fueled disputes within the Iranian government
The head of Britain’s MI6 foreign intelligence agency reported that, according to the agency’s assessments, the shipment of weapons from Iran to Russia has exacerbated internal disputes at the highest levels of the Tehran government.
Richard Moore, in a public speech on Wednesday, July 19, also criticized the Islamic Republic for fueling further conflict in Ukraine by sending drones and other weapons to Russia. He stated that this action by the Islamic Republic has even stirred internal arguments at the highest levels of the Tehran regime.
During its invasion of Ukraine, Russia has repeatedly used Iranian-made drones to target infrastructure and civilians within Ukrainian territory.
The reference by the head of Britain’s foreign intelligence agency to internal disputes in Iran over military support for Russia comes after a joint statement by Russia and the Arab Gulf countries in recent days sparked a wave of reactions within Iran.
